JUDGE'S REMARKS

The combination of dramatic impact, vibrant colours, and insightful content makes this work exceptionally striking. The heavy brush strokes conveying a sense of movement and emotion are quite reminiscent of Van Gogh’s work.

The contrast between the open eye and the closed eyes of the masses, suggests a powerful commentary on awareness and perception. The bullseye as a representation of the iris and pupil may symbolize focus and clarity, drawing attention to the need for personal insight and mindfulness.

The artist highlights themes such as self-awareness, presence, and openness to new experiences, which invites the viewer to reflect on their own perceptions and experiences.
