Morgan Champine holds a BA in English from the University of Utah and is currently a candidate for a creative writing MFA at Hollins University. Their fiction can be found in Fruitslice Magazine, Vellichor Literary Magazine, & Antler Velvet Arts Magazine, and their plays, “Corralis” & “The Lilium Club” were recently performed at the University of Utah. They are a proud recipient of the 2025 College Media Association’s National Apple Award in Opinion Column Writing.
Morgan has always been a voracious reader. Their favorite types of works are speculative fiction with a lot of heart, science fiction about robots, aliens, and real science, psychological horror with vibrant body horror, and anything that makes them feel the way Death Cab for Cutie’s music does. Some of their favorite short stories include “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang, “Orphans” by Brad Felver, and “Secession XX” by Kellie Wells. Their favorite literary essay is Ursula K. Le Guin’s “The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction”.
When not writing, reading, or editing, Morgan can be found onstage, in a planetarium, or poring over new cocktail recipes. They can always be found near mountains — their current mountain range is the Appalachians, where they live in the Blue Ridge Mountain Valley with their partner and very naughty tuxedo cat.
