Liz Mariani
woke up to a photographed body
dopamine liked more dopamine
there was an underreported over-appreciation for unaccounted-for overdoses
humans are dead
humans are free
volcanoes salivate an air duct echolocation
a train arrives
to take you where you go
where you've been
where you've left
the new normal becomes newer
more normal
sea and air fill with fire-orange meringue
you remind me of los vientos
the sky cracks as in crust as in skin as in uterus as in blanket
held by arms but not restraint
your lover is dead
dead to the living
dead to the dead
suspended
there is no heat
winter has come for my lover
taken them to a frozen place
in order to live
i must stay warm
i must stay
i must stay alive
