Ocean Haiku
Joshua St. Claire
whitecaps
cumulonimbus towering
over the Atlantic
three boys gathering
the stratocumulus sky
bucket of seashells
at first I don’t even
know their names
ocean stars
teal water
spinning sea spray
cumulus humilis
in the beginning
was darkness
gullcry
keeping the secret you also know palm blossoms
shellsand
a boy pieces together
an enigma
Delft blue horizon where the sanderlings are the palette resolves
lined up on a gable
a diminuendo of sun
gull evening
the mockingbird
tries his whole life to sing it
oceansong
