MoonLit Getaway Literary Journal is a Canadian non-profit, entirely run by volunteers. Although all positions are unpaid, active volunteers enjoy the following benefits:

The time and work commitments for each position are negotiable and dependent on individual skills, availability, and interests. The tasks and responsibilities of each role are flexible and can be tailored to suit an incumbent's interests.

FICTION EDITOR

The ideal candidate is a passionate reader with an expert level understanding of literary craft and an awareness of literary trends. The incumbent must evaluate fiction submissions with sharp technical discernment, as well as an empathetic eye. Strong communication skills are critical.
BOOK REVIEWERS (FICTION AND POETRY)
Position Description and Responsibilities

Evaluate traditionally published books, providing analysis and critiques, delving into content, style, and overall merit

Join ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) sites, such as NetGalley (easy to join and membership is free) in order to review books before they are released
-
Write a minimum of one book review per month (500 to 1000 words each)
-
Submit polished, proofread reviews to the Executive Editor; approved reviews will be published on our blog
-
A minimum of 50% of books reviewed must be written by Canadian authors and poets

The ideal candidate is a passionate reader with a strong understanding of literary craft, excellent written communication skills, and an awareness of literary trends. Applicants may be asked to provide a sample of their writing, preferably a book review. Reviews must not be written by AI.
READERS (FICTION AND POETRY)

GRAPHIC DESIGNER
