My body belonged to a land it didn't know existed
Jordy Wiens
my body belonged to a land
it didn't know existed
until 2023,
until we saw,
until we felt,
until we supped.
my body belonged to a land
it didn't know existed
until i heard her lilting voice,
rising from the waves,
rising from the moss and stones and dirt,
She welcomed home her children
from a concerted effort spanning since
1949, since
1919, since
the Great Hunger, since
i live with the memory,
the yearning,
the aching,
to go back.
