Harvest Moon is to be an annual offering of artwork, fiction, and poetry, compiled by the editors of MoonLit Getaway. Each instalment will contain a collection of favourites, handpicked from our online literary journal (MoonLitGetaway.com). The selection process for this volume was onerous at times, as we adore everything we’ve published on our website. Nevertheless, we persevered, and I’m thrilled to share what the team has put together.

Thirty remarkable works appear in this year’s anthology—sixteen stories, eleven poems, and three visual art pieces. Our contributors come from all corners of the globe, and their works are as diverse as their backgrounds. While this collection is eclectic in almost every way (genre, theme, form, medium, style, etc.), the creations herein share key commonalities, such as literary merit, compelling narratives, and relatable characters. There’s an array of worlds in these pages and a rich mix of perspectives, but it’s all entangled in the roots of the human experience.

Publication of Harvest Moon Volume One is a momentous milestone for MoonLit Getaway, made possible by the tremendous efforts of some incredible individuals. It’s been an honour to work alongside Michael Vadney, Jennifer Trippett, Olive Scott, Jacinta Manna, Jace DeAngelo, Alex E. Harrison, and Jim Miller—also, a special thanks to Allison Field Bell, Reem the Visual Artist, and Amy DeBellis for judging our Grand Opening Contest.

We are open for submissions. Artists, poets, and writers can visit MoonLitGetaway.com/submit for guidelines, forms, and contest information. We seek creations that will enrapture our readers with excitement, wonder, and intrigue. New, emerging, and established creators are encouraged to submit. We consider all genres and accept submissions from anywhere in the world.

MoonLit Getaway Literary Journal is an Alberta-based non-profit, entirely run by volunteers. We are immensely grateful for the donors, members, and sponsors who have supported our efforts to promote the arts in Canada and around the world. Others who wish to chip in can visit MoonLitGetaway.com/support
